Either you just stumbled upon this article or was directed here either through an email or by one of our staff members, but either way, I want to assure you that all of these changes are for the best. As some of you have noticed, all traffic to MaximHosting.com is now being directed to this site, Sprugo.com. This is not because Maxim Hosting was sold or anything like that as it definitely was not sold and we are still a healthy and thriving company.

So why the name change?

After 7 years with the Maxim name, we just did not feel that it reflected the uniqueness of our services as the name Maxim is just to common these days, and not really because of our services. As of this writing, their are over 47 million results on google for the term “maxim”, with more popular sites being a mens magazine and a healthcare company. As for the term Sprugo, at the time we purchased the domain rights, there were only 88 results, which were mostly random last name results. Honestly, there really isnt much history behind the name Sprugo for us,. I really wish I had a clever story to go with it, but we were literally just searching through pronounceable 5-6 letter domain names when we found it. Sprugo is pronounced: “spr-oo-go” (yes, we own sproogo.com as well just in case), besides the fact that its short, pronounceable, we felt that it was “brandable”.

What else is new besides the name?

Not only do we have a new web site, but we have also added many additional services, upgraded our infrastructure, added a new data center, and upgraded all hosting packages for free!

New Web Site

Well, as you can obviously tell, the web site is definitely new and has a plethora of information about our services and support. Our old web site for Maxim Hosting was literally setup to be only used for 3 months. Its definitely not something I have ever been proud of, but it fulfilled the basic needs at the time. Well, unfortunately its been up for over 5 years now, but fortunately now we have finally scrapped the old site and have this beautiful fully functional one.

old web site had only 5 pages of content and its navigation was extremely poor.

new website has over 90 pages of information about our services and over 400 knowledge base articles and 110 video tutorials. We have also added over 30 webmaster and SEO tools to help you with your web site.

We have also completely revamped our Support section with some of the additions listed above, but also information about Network and Server Maintenance and Status. We lave also added a tool to allow you to do a network trace from your location to ours to what paths it takes and to potential help troubleshoot routing issues. Another neat tool is our speed test app which allows you to see what your upload and download speeds would be to our network.

New Products and Services

There are almost to many new things for me to even mention, but here is a sample list and I am sure I am going to forget a few:

Web Design

Web Application Development

Internet Marketing

Graphic Design

Technology Training

Mailing List Management

Offsite Remote Backup

Virtual Private Servers

Ecommerce Shopping Carts

SSL Certificates

Exchange Email Service

We have also added many new free services such as a free billing solution, domain registration, and SSL Certificates for Reseller Hosting. We have also added a robust site builder application that has over 100 high quality templates for you to choose from. And one of our favorites additions, is a new WebMail application that will allow you to share calendars, import your contacts from Outlook, and just plain easy to use.
